Diorshow Mascara
CGI Beauty Still Life by Krisztina Vichnál, CGI & 3D artist in Budapest.
A CGI beauty still life series around two mascaras: one in mirror chrome with a curved brush, one in embossed, textured silver with a spiked volumising brush. Seven compositions move from studio groupings to floating arrangements and a macro of the brush.
Two Silvers
Diorshow Mascara is a personal CGI beauty series that sets two mascaras side by side. The first is a smooth, mirror-chrome tube with a curved brush, shown grouped, upright, crossed and in close diagonal. The second has a hammered, embossed surface and a spiked brush, and the series moves steadily closer to it, ending on a macro of the brush leaving the tube. A cool blue-grey gradient runs through every frame so the metal stays the subject.
Reflection and Texture
The two finishes ask for opposite things from the light. The mirror chrome shows everything around it, so the studio was shaped with soft gradients to give the tube clean highlights and edges. The embossed tube breaks those same reflections into a fine, shifting texture over its raised cannage pattern, while the glossy black spikes of its brush were modelled for the macro frame, where each one holds its own highlight.
