Crayon à Lèvres

CGI Beauty Product Study by Krisztina Vichnál, CGI & 3D artist in Budapest.

A CGI beauty product study focused on the material detail of a lip liner pencil. Wood grain, pigment, lacquer and printed surfaces are explored through macro still life and motion.

Texture Fidelity

Crayon à Lèvres is a CGI beauty product series that slows down long enough to look at a cosmetic pencil properly. The wood casing, the pigment tip, the printed label, each surface has its own material logic, and the project builds a lookdev system around making all of them convincing simultaneously. Motion sequences add a second dimension: the object in movement, rotating, catching light differently as it turns.

Macro Details

Wood grain was built procedurally to hold natural variation without becoming decorative, knots, grain shifts, the slight unevenness of a lacquered surface over wood. Pigment tips carry a waxy semi-translucency that sits between matte and glossy, specific to the material and difficult to fake with standard shader approaches.
